About John Parker
I spent over 10 years in the U.S. Army National Guard as a combat medic and medical sergeant, and led a team of 25. I got a little tired of the medical field, so I went back to my first love from high school, engineering, for the freedom and creativity it gives me. Now I study mechanical engineering at UT Dallas, and I'm looking for a Summer 2027 manufacturing internship in the Dallas area.
At Dallas College I led our ASME Student Design Competition team for two seasons and mentored students in the ARISE program. I like the part of a project where the drawing meets the machine. A router that burned the edge taught me to raise the feed rate. A casting pour that stopped short left me with three good guesses and no final answer yet. I keep both on my project pages, because knowing when something failed is where the learning starts.
